“Up for bid is my 1986 Ensoniq ESQ-1 Synthesizer! It’s been in my collection for about 8 months, and has been rarely used due to a personal lack of interest in the synth. I purchased it on reverb.com about 8 months ago and from what I understand it came from a studio style environment. The body is metal, however the side panels are plastic. I received this synth with the brackets that hold the screws in broken, the screws nowhere to be found. This doesn’t impact the function of the synthesizer, however it is something to keep note of (I will secure the synth to ensure the case doesn’t come open during shipping). It has the sequencer expander card, and a newly replaced battery from 2013. Everything is 100% operational with this synth. It has a set of custom patches, but if your want the original factory set, I can certainly do that for you. “No RAM battery – the synth will not boot up into the normal playing mode and does not make any sound, but I can still access the maintenance/adjustment features by playing the lowest C Major chord while turning it on, so it seems to still be alive. The panel test is is actually running in the first photo – that’s why all the lights are on.In addition, I did notice some corrosion on the circuit board around the battery, but it never seemed to impact the functionality before I removed that battery. Please see the pictures for the extent of the corrosion. Because of the missing battery and corrosion, I’m selling this for repair/parts despite that fact it was working fine with a battery.Cosmetically, the “BANK D” button is missing its plastic cap, and a G key is chipped and cracked. We’ve had nearly all vintage synths but never had one of these, so we were pretty excited about buying one for the collection, or at least playing with for a while until we got tired of it. So we emailed our tech and he was like “yeah, sure, I can fix it, no prob”…..until he returned from vacation and we took a close look at it and discussed what it would take to get it up to our high standards, which, admittedly, are way higher than most. Considering the amount of time and money we would have to invest in fully refurbishing it to meet our standards and the fact that we have much more important items to deal with here that require time we haven’t got, we are offering this unit strictly as is. “Excellent working condition. This particular unit has 6 switches on the back that can turn the filter on channels 1-6 on or off, for audio coming out of the individual channel outs and the mix out. All buttons and pads have been disassembled and cleaned, and all slide potentiometers have been disassembled and cleaned as well. A new screen has been installed. A new faceplate has been installed.” 
“PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good – There are lots of scratches on the top side of the enclosure above the control panel. There are dings on the back side along the top edge and near the metal lip which sticks out on the back side with the labels for the jacks on the back side. There are two little stickers leftover from the previous owner with numbers labeling the MIDI thru and CH1 output jacks. The metal side panels also have scratches near the top edges primarily. The keys have light marks from being played. The marks are visible on the black keys mainly. WORKING CONDITION: Excellent. Perfect working order in all areas and it sounds wonderful. “This a vintage analog polyphonic Roland Alpha Juno synth. A great way at getting a classic Juno sounds cheaper than the other models. The synth is in great condition, except for a small crack near the power switch…. this does not affect playability and the structure of the synth is still solid. The synth works perfectly except for the backlight for the screen is a bit faint, but you can still see the values on the screen… you may want to get a new bulb at some point. This comes with a Roland MSQ 100 digital sequencer, i bought this recently but never got around to trying it out. The unit powers up ok and I was told by the previous owner that it worked fine, but I don’t have midi cables to test out the unit…. b/c of this, I’m saying the sequencer is untested. ”
