” Yamaha DX7iiFD FM Synthesizer W/Floppy Disk Drive – Donner Gig Bag and Stand.
The 80’s Classic, improved. This was Yamaha’s improved version of their smash hit DX7 synth used on countless 80’s recordings. This particular model is from 1987 and was the last iteration of it before Yamaha moved on to developing their next line of synthesizers.
This synth excels at eighties sounds, and creates spectacular sound effects too. It sounds simply gorgeous, especially with it’s native detuning and a chorus pedal. One perk this model has over the earlier ones is the proper pushbuttons as opposed to membrane buttons (which I detest). However, this synth could use a cleaning as some of the buttons need to be quite firmly pressed. It’s also missing a rubber foot.
The keyboard action is buttery and built like a tank. I’ve been told it’s worth getting just for the keyboard alone. Smooth and responsive. All the keys work.
This synth has a reputation of being obtuse to program, and some of that is deserved. However if you are willing to sit down and study the manual a bit, it will show you that it’s readily capable of so much more than clichéd eighties sounds. One important note is that for patch saving you will need to disable the memory protect for the patch you are working on. This and saving patches takes some figuring out at first, but it’s worth the trouble. There are so many alien sounds to discover on this slice of history.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“This one is in excellent cosmetic condition and working 100%. It has just been professionally serviced. These are not too common and are rarely in this kind of cosmetic condition. Most of them look beat! It will come with it’s original road case (recently re-foamed), the original manual, and the original book of magnetic memory strips. It will be properly packaged when sold and will arrive in the condition as stated. Not sold as-is!
Cosmetically- Nothing is mint in my opinion and this one is no exception. There are plenty of marks on it, but overall I think it looks excellent and as good as the photos show. I’m very critical with my descriptions as some of you are aware of how many sellers exaggerate the condition of their gear. Please check out the photos.
Internally- This unit was in great shape when it was acquired from the original owner. Apart from any repairs, the entire unit has been cleaned up, all controls (potentiometers, sliders, and switches) cleaned, a new battery holder has been installed with new batteries, all capacitors in the power supply have been replaced (rebuilt power supply), and it’s been completely calibrated. Keyboard seems to be in good condition. Plugs in, all buttons and switches function. Keys move good. One key is sitting loose, just needs a small spring to get it up and running again. Overall light wear due to age.

Battery changed just a couple of years ago. A common fault in the DX27 is that the internal battery fails. This one has had that battery changed and is going strong. The first battery probably lasted about 30 years.

“I have for sale a vintage Yamaha DX7 synthesizer from 1985 in absolutely pristine condition. It is immaculately clean, fully functional, and has been given a thorough assessment by a technician who granted the keyboard a clean bill of health.
The keys are bright white (with no yellowing), fully responsive, and still have that iconic “80s Yamaha feel” to them. All of the membrane buttons are fully functional and completely responsive as well.
The DX7 is THE sound of the 80s, but it doesn’t stop there. The DX7 is still considered to be a studio staple that you can find in almost any big, professional music production studio nowadays.
DX7 keyboards still seem to be selling online for around the $500 range, at least for ones that are in excellent condition like this one that I am selling. Units that are more battered (especially given the age of the DX7) obviously sell for less.
