For sale is a rare Yamaha CS-50 vintage analog synthesizer. This CS50 is in incredible condition. Hardly any signs of wear. It comes from the original owner and spent a majority of its life tucked away, and the condition shows how little it has been played. It comes complete with original manual, original foot-pedal (and soft-case for the foot-pedal) plus case lid and original legs. It’s fully functional and sounds excellent, a class synth. “Recently obtained from a back line rental company that was liquidating excess equipment.
In great physical condition, very clean all around. No cracked or chipped keys.
Display reads “Change Battery!” when powered up. I did install a new battery, but display still says to change it.
No output sound from any of the outputs at all.
Has some funky looking characters on the display, I imagine this is from the low battery.
Floppy disk drive does seem to be functioning as I heard it making noise when engaging the drive from the menu.

” This was our “studio synth” since purchased brand new (a while back). “Hi there, I’m selling a Yamaha CS-5 in decent cosmetic condition for the age however it is not fully operational, so listed for parts only
It is functioning in LPF mode, “noise” and “external in” are working, however it barely functions in HPF and BPF modes and the power supply is hold together with tape
(so be careful when using it or perhaps replace the plastic incasing, cheap and easy)
The pitch bend slider cover is missing but functioning
Potentiometers are scratchy however probably needs exercising and cleaning

” Classic 70’s mono synth in solid condition with all knobs, switches, jacks and LED’s working as intended.
This unit was recently serviced, with the power supply being recalibrated along with the VCO, VCF and VCA sections — in other words a full recalibration of the unit as per the original service manual.
The unit has been modified to operate at normal US wall voltage, not the 100V Japanese it was originally set for. This mod only involved attaching a different tap from the original transformer inside, as per the service manual.

PLEASE NOTE that this synth has a short in the DC adapter connection. If you push down once on the connection just slightly, it maintains power without a problem even while playing vigorously. It has been this way for many years and has always worked (but buyer beware, of course).
I have not tested the battery power but there is some rust residue in this area.
