“What can I say? It’s a great machine, especially if you like that clean 80’s sound. It is super capable of whatever wacky modified FM synthesis sound you want if you modify the settings. That’s pretty involved, but I printed out the manual for you so have at it. It does not come with the power cable, you can get one online or use batteries – I used a universal adaptor and it worked fine.
It is in pretty nice shape. I wouldn’t put it in a museum, but maybe I would if it’s the last one. There are no deep scratches, just surface stuff and wear from normal use.
Did I mention that it’s designed to use with a strap? Fulfill your rock star dreams like never before! They conveniently put the modulation and pitch wheel so you can use them while tearing up all 49 keys, or even just a couple of well chosen keys specifically chosen for your application. It has MIDI stuff on it – I never tried it, I assume that it works. There are a lot of buttons. A whole lot of buttons. It’s capable of some serious geek rock, smooth jazz (especially with the breath adapter {which I don’t have included}), or something fresh and new, ready to connect deep with people’s souls. The rest of the keys are fine, I tested it with an amp and all of it seens to be functioning fine. The case is pretty used and the foam is coming off a bit interally but it will work fine. “Yamaha DX7 – The synth that defined an era.
Definitely the synth that defined an era with it’s bright sounds and great bass. A-ha, Chicago, Whitney Houston, Kenny Loggins, Brian Eno, the list goes on and on. It was hard to find an 80’s album or soundtrack where the DX7 wasn’t heard.
Front and rear of right end cap have cracks. Other than that the synth itself is in perfect working order. Right now the synth is set up to play through midi out not phone/aux. Will send video of full operation if requested. Some people that don’t know how to set up their DX series may assume phones/aux are not working, however it is a user setup/preference to play through either midi through or out or to play line out. Any questions just ask. I have no clue how this thing works overall so it is not fully tested.
I do know the buttons on the top right are touchy. (voice multi etc) They all work but you have to press them a couple times sometimes to make the contact properly. They also started to work better as i pushed them more so they may need cleaned.
