“My brother passed away recently and this was part of his musical instrument collection. He bought it new back in the day. There was no cord with it so I bought one on Amazon. There is a genuine Roland M-16C Memory Cartridge with it. I haven’t tested the memory cartridge so…I really don’t know much about this particular keyboard. I hooked up a pair of headphones to the headphone jack and ran through all of the keys to be sure they worked. There was one or two that required a bit more force to operate but it didn’t seem like anything serious. This keyboard has been gathering dust for YEARS in my brother’s bedroom so it probably just needs to meet a can of compressed air or be played a few times to get the kinks out. I am the original owner of this beautiful sounding synthesizer.

But unfortunately, it has succumbed to the RED GLUE problem that most JD-800″s encounter eventually.

What I can tell you about this synth is, all the sliders/faders, and knobs are there.

It functions perfectly hooked up to a midi controller.

This is how I’ve been using it as of lately due to the red glue problem with the keys.

It’s only a few keys that are affected, but I’m sure as time goes on, more will be.

I do not have the time to take the key bed apart, and install a new one.

There are videos on YouTube that explain the process.

There is one minor cosmetic problem with the synth…

On the right hand corner, there’s a gap.

This happened after I opened it up to acess the red glue. I’m not sure if there was a piece of plastic or metal there or not. I did not see anything when putting it back together.

But that is the ONLY thing wrong with it cosmetically, other than light surface scratches.”

“WORKING CONDITION: Very Good- This synthesizer is in very good working condition. Recently serviced as needed, new battery and cleaned. All features and functions work nicely and will be a good reliable synth for a long time.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good – There are noticeable scuffs and abrasions present throughout the chassis consistent with normal use and age of the synth. Nothing unusual. Additionally, a few scratches have been covered up with a Sharpie marker. The B key at the highest octave has a small crack in it as well, but the key itself is stable and works fine. All original keys, buttons, and knobs remain fully functional and in great shape. On the whole, the synthesizer is in very good physical condition.

Also included, but not pictured, is the original paper manual in very good condition. I don’t know a lot about these but it seems to be working just as it should! It’s had the modern Tubbutec upgrade fitted too, complete with MIDI ports. The plastic has yellowed somewhat, but this is to be expected considering it’s around 40 years old! The battery compartment is rust and corrosion free, and all screws are present on the underside.
