Roland Juno 60

” This was once one of my go-to-synths, but I have since gone fully digital and I haven’t touched it in years. The synth is in great cosmetic and working condition. Some minor wear on the wood panels that I want to make sure is mentioned and I have documented in pictures.

Fully tested just now and the unit sounds incredible. Two things that I have noticed that you need to be aware of before bidding:

-I noticed a slight crackle when turning the volume knob, which I was able to get rid of by spraying some DeoxIT D5 contact spray. That said, this could potentially return and can be easily addressed as mentioned.

-One key (A#) shows a slightly delayed reaction when pressed at times. This is likely also a dusty or dirty contact as the key feels fine. This too can easily be addressed but it likely requires opening the unit up, which I have not done as I have very little to no technical background or talent. Alternatively, you can easily circumvent this by changing the octave. Also worth mentioning is the fact that this problem does not occur when the synth is being triggered via MIDI.

Other than these two things, that I want to be very transparent about:

-all sliders are present and work
-pitch bend and modulation section works
-chorus section works
-presets work
-all voice chips (6) work
-all keys work

Comes with a Kenton Pro-DCB MIDI to DCB convertor that allows you to trigger this synth from your DAW… very cool in combination with this pre-MIDI synth! Includes all needed cables and convertor manual. I am also including two high quality audio cables. And it comes with an original Roland patch shift pedal.

This synth looks and sounds fantastic but because of the two minor issues mentioned above and the minor wear on the wood panels I am not selling and pricing this as excellent or pristine, so this may be a rare opportunity to own a great Juno-60 for a reasonable price!” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“See photos for all details on condition. Has scuffs and scratches on multiple sides, but most are only visible under close inspection. Looks very nice for it’s age overall and more importantly sounds greats and plays as it should!

Case latch has lost some of its chrome plating(see photo), but latches as it should. Case is fairly lightweight yet very protective.

Parts/Functions TESTED-

All black/white keys and buttons except any parts that would require a cartridge(since I do not have one). No reason to believe cartridge functions aren’t working though. Cartridge slot not tested for same reason.

Aftertouch has been tested and verified functioning using MIDI-OX to verify aftertouch signal being sent. To me it seems a little weak in terms of response but I don’t have another JX-8P to compare it to and I do not play synths regularly(guitar is main instrument). So not sure if this is just the nature of this beast or if the aftertouch contact strip could benefit from a cleaning.

All sliders and pitch bender tested. Display works as it should.

All rear audio outputs and l,m,h switch.

“Basically a Juno 106 (maybe better? responds to midi velocity!) in rackmount form plus its got a great bass voice as well as a built in TR-707 which many say is a poor mans 909 🙂 The rear has 4 direct outputs for each section – the bass and drums mentioned above and the Juno section is split into a 4 note polyphony chord section and a 2 note polyphony melody section. You can put the Juno section into whole mode and get all 6 notes of polyphony. I personally had it set up with the drums and bass coming out of the direct outs and the juno part out of the master section so that great juno chorus could be in stereo. The master volume fader is pretty crackle-y but you pretty much just set your volume and leave it there so its not really an issue – keep in mind this is 40ish years old! All the voices sound great and look great, i have tested all the other functions, the buttons sometimes double press but still work and can still be used to dial up patches. and was using this with a midi editor in ableton and I have one I can send you that runs in Logic if you are familiar with Logic’s environment. This unit is setup for 120v so is ready to go here in North America.”

“This keyboard is being sold ‘as is’ so no returns.

This Roland keyboard from the 80s is essentially broken, but may be repairable for somebody with the right skills, or perhaps you can use the parts.

There are no accessories, not even a power cable (a standard kettle plug cable will work – no need of a special power supply). No manual and the box will be for a different keyboard.

So, it’s not working, but here’s the state of it. Cosmetically it is generally good for its age. A bit of paint on it, and some dust etc. Could do with a bit of cleaning, but otherwise decent, no major dents or anything. On powering up, the LCD display comes to life and appears working. The disk drive makes a constant whirring noise which is annoying, and I suspect that it is faulty. However I have never had the appropriate disk to load into it, but given the noise it is not functioning correctly. So without disks, standard operation of this keyboard is untested by me, so possibly does not work, however I have been able to hook it up via midi and use it to control other sound modules and it works fine in that regard. All the keys, the pitch-bend work perfectly sending out full midi. The keyboard seems close to 100%, with no dead keys. I’ve had a quick check of the midi out for touch sensitivity and it appears good.

Addendum: A punter asked is the sampling worked. I hadn’t tested it, but now have and can confirm that it seems to work perfectly. I haven’t tried all the features, but have easily sampled sounds and played them. I am getting out of vintage synths so my collection is up for sale.

This is in excellent condition and fully working. A couple of tiny marks here and there but nothing bad at all.
I bought it last year from its 2nd owner who had kept it in storage and bought it from a personal friend who barely used it.
So it’s been hardly used and very well looked after over the years.
As far as I know the only thing that has been done is the battery was replaced a few years ago.
I don’t think there has been any other servicing. No capacitor replacement. It’s fully working now but JP-8000s have a very common problem with the output muting capacitor failing and it will need to be replaced at some point – worth bearing in mind.

This listing includes the JP-8000, power cable, manual (a bit scruffy) and original box. However the box has lost all its strength so is unsuitable for shipping. The box is just cardboard folded in on itself, no polystyrene – very eco friendly but not very strong at all! “Putting my beloved Jupiter 8 up for grabs to a good home:) an absolutely beautiful synth in perfect working order which makes less and less sense in my tight studio space given how little I’ve been using it. Had it serviced in 2023 and have only used it for a couple of recording sessions at home since then. My excellent tech replaced the battery and installed a housing that allows for future battery changes without soldering and did some major cleanup, recapping, pot replacement, handmade felts to replace old key felts, etc. All in all he put about $2k worth of his time into inspection and repair; you can be assured that this synth will be in great shape for years to come. No midi but will include Doeper din/sync box and cables. Has patch expansion add-on built into it which triples the onboard memory, all original factory presets in bank b. I also have a new custom Jupiter 8 dust cover which really looks great:) Local pickup is preferred; if necessary I will pack the crap out of it and use reverb safe shipping, though I may need extra time to obtain suitable packing materials. If I have overquoted on the price of shipping I will refund the difference after deducting cost of materials, which will include a very sturdy box. I use this module in conjunction with an 88 key MIDI controller.

I was able to obtain a piano expansion card and install it in this unit. It became my primary piano sound when recording.

Unfortunately I’m too fond of this expansion card so it is not included in the sale. THIS 1080 HAS NO EXPANSION CARDS ! You can obtain this card from eBay along with other expansion cards. There are four slots hidden under the panel you see on the top. Remove the eight screws ,pull up the panel ,plug in the card and you’re ready to go.
