Everything works as it should for a 40 year old device except for the following.

“Up for auction is a noteworthy piece of music history, the Roland MC-202 MicroComposer. This iconic vintage synthesizer and sequencer from the 80s is beloved by musicians and collectors alike for its rich, warm tones.

This particular Roland MC-202 unit has been partially tested. When powered on, the power light illuminates as expected, all keys are responsive, and the unit produces sound as can be heard in the video. However, it has not been tested further or examined by a professional technician. Therefore, this item is sold as-is, with no guarantee of full functionality. Despite the limited testing, the synth appears to be in a decent cosmetic condition for its age, bearing signs of wear that add to its vintage character. All obvious cosmetic flaws are visible in the photos, from what I can see two x small nicks in keys, tempo knob at slight angle, crack in front side panel, note I cannot see that the screen comes on. ”

This has the Kenton 3 socket mod for CV, Gate and Filter.
The MC-202 internal CV & Gate sockets are only for programming the internal sequencer.
When played by an external MIDI > CV converter this introduces lag as it it processed through the CPU for the sequencer.

Its synth is similar to the TB-303 bass synth and the SH-101 synthesizer, featuring one voltage-controlled oscillator with simultaneous saw and square/pulse-width waveforms. “Serviced by Kent Spong in 2021. Fully working with occasional crackles when not used for a while – as is to be expected from a 40 year old vintage synth.
Case is in good cosmetic condition with no modifications. There are a couple of chips in the side of the casing where where the unit has been opened over the years. This is typical of most 202s.
Battery cover is in place. Battery compartment is clean with no signs of any leakage. Works on batteries or via Roland/Boss 9v PSU (not included).
LCD is clear. All buttons and sliders work as they should.

“Great condition overall. There’s a few dinks and imperfections and a slight scratch at the right of the screen. The square waveform slider on the source mixer is at a slight angle. The case is all intact.

There’s a bit of ingrained dust in the slider cavities which I’m endeavouring to remove but have not yet discovered a cleaning instrument of suitable proportions.

I haven’t fired it up for a while but will do soon. Was fully working the last time I tried it, including the pitch bend, which seems to be a common malfunction on these units.”
