“Selling my beloved Alpha Juno 2 and hoping it goes to a good home. Absolutely incredible sounding versatile synth from 1985, with amazing presents and a huge amount of parameters to explore.

It’s been serviced about 2 years ago, and I’ve cleaned all the keys contacts this week so it’s playing beautifully. The aftertouch function no longer works, which is very common for this model, but all the keys, sliders and buttons are in working order.

Just to note, some of the metal casing at the bottom is slightly bend out of shape, meaning there are some spots where some screws don’t fit in and make the casing a bit loose. This is shown in the last picture. I’ve made sure that everything is attached in place securely despite this, and it is still completely functional!”

Here is my Alpha Juno 2.

It is in good condition overall with a few small marks here and there. There is a noticeable dent under the mod depth button. The button works but is quite sensitive.

The keyboard is really good but unfortunately the aftertouch doesn’t really work, just like most Alpha 2’s.

All other buttons and controls work without issue.

I have replaced the backlight on the display.

Quickly tested and…
The Left and Right output channels work.
The headphones socket works.
The volume slider works.
The selector wheel works (kind of).

Five of the keyboards keys don’t make any sound, three white keys and two black keys.

The keyboard might be set to ‘Local OFF’ because it used to be controlled by computer.
If the keys don’t activate the sounds when you receive it, you will have to go into the midi menu (described in the user guide included) and change the setting to ‘Local ON’ to make the keys activate the sounds. This is what I did to test the keyboard but I don’t know if it saved the setting.

I haven’t tested any of the buttons, but the one I used in conjunction with the selector wheel to change the midi setting worked.

The metal body has rust on the surface in places.
The night light doesn’t work in the display screen.

“Cosmetics-Good overall for its age with some general wear. Mostly on the control areas and buttons. Body has some scratches and rubbing wear in places. One of the black keys sits higher than the rest but functions ok. See photos. The bottom has some scratches and is missing one of the body screws. A particle is floating around loose inside. Maybe a plastic piece from the higher black key ?? Operationally I checked it out and generally responds ok. All the keys respond when pushed, clear audio from both the outputs, volume adjusts through its range, pitch bender adjusts the sound, and the display functions responded accordingly. I did find a few issues. The volume has some scratchy areas. The pitch bender springs in both directions but sometimes going to the right was harder to move through its very end range. The white key on the very left end works but seems intermittent and not as responsive. The other advanced programming features are untested otherwise. I am not a music keyboard person. Backup battery is most likely original. So this generally responds but would need service or parts replaced to be back to original specs. Great for someone who likes tinkering old Roland equipment. “Needs some work as four keys don’t always trigger and some keys mistrigger velocity, so needs new keyboard contacts which can be found easily online and they are easy to replace.
The volume slider also crackles, I never did these repairs as I used this keyboard mostly with a sequencer and it sounds amazing and didn’t bother me.
There’s a ding in the bank select overlay but the buttons work perfectly.
Screen and backlight work great.
So sold as seen. Sounds amazing but will need some keyboard repairs.
