Paia was always a cost-effective alternative to the pricey modular synths of the 70s. They were often sold as kits so were very popular among DIY synth people and electronics hobbyists. The beauty of Paia gear is that it’s very simple and most if not all of the parts are still readily available from electronics suppliers. Paia gear sounds like nothing else. Its got a certain low-fidelity sound to it, but thats a major part of its charm. If you’re new to vintage modular synths and want a real one but are on a limited budget, this may be a good place to start. Of course if you already own Paia gear, this would probably make a very nice expansion to your current system. This stuff is hard to find when you want it, so buy now before it’s gone.
This system needs work and is being sold as-is. When we first got it, it wasn’t working, so our tech replaced some caps in the power supply. Once he powered it up, he determined it had other problems that needed fixing, but tech time is limited and we need to focus on higher valued items. Since most people into Paia gear are also into DIY electronics and enjoy restoration projects, we decided to sell this system as is. Please don’t buy it if you’re not prepared to fix it or know someone who can fix it for you.

“Vintage PAiA Gnome (3740) Analog Ribbon Synthesizer. Made from kit. Dates to the 70’s (specifically 1975/1976), judging from the info I have found online. Item was working, but stopped making any sound. Needs a power supply (was originally being run off of two 9 volt batteries, but this connection has come loose). Has a 3.5mm mini jack for audio output.

“PAIA Electronic Synthesizer Module Kits 9730/K, 9710K, and 9710frm Unassembled. Condition is For parts or not working because I have no way of testing them before assembly. These are electronic kits from years and years ago. These came to me unopened, so I assume they are unchanged from the factory, so all the parts should be there. I have no way to be sure. The 9710K and 9730/K kits each include a pre-drilled printed circuit card. The 9710frm kit contains a pre-drilled, pre-printed control panel blank. There are NO instructions or diagrams, just the information sheets seen in the photos. If you are a PAiA synthesizer enthusiast, you will know what these are. I hope they will be useful to you! “Classic analog synth, everything works great, comes with power supply. Midi in and thru, channel controlled by dip switches. Great sounding fat bass and liquidy acid lines and a nice snappy envelope. Great little synth for the money, and cool Moog Style k obs make this one really look great!” 
“Paia 9700 series modular synth rig has been meticulously soldered with high-end audiophile solder. This unit includes a 8 step sequencer that incorporates the Ken Stone Sequential Switch ([link removed by eBay]) which is routed to a set of 8, completely bypass-able, control voltage knobs. This unit has two transformers, and two power supplies. One for the 9700 modules and one for the sequencer/potentiometer bank. This has been working in my smoke-free studio for 10 years. VCO 1v/octave tracking may need re-calibration, which is easy: I will include paper instructions and documents for each and every module including power supplies. Wooden case is sturdy white oak. Includes a handle on one side. Three power indicating LED’s are on a front panel that includes a few multiples (3.5mm and 1/4″ jacks wired in parallel), but the LED’s are not currently connected- this doesn’t effect function. This rack has plenty of LED’s!”
“If you are a PAiA Phan you know what this is and how rare it is! There are a few scratches on the face plate, as you can see. Also my beefy power supply kept blowing the 1/8W 47 Ohm resistor so I am including a few 1/4W for your DIY hands to replace. My eyesight and unsteady hands would only make matters worse! Last time (before it blew) it was working fine as were all the LEDs.
