“Moog Realistic MG-1 Synthesizer Excellent Serviced. Condition is Used.

I inherited this synth and spent over $300 having IC’s replaced and the overall unit serviced recapped and bright back to original glory .

Sounds awesome .

I’ve been running it with no issues over 6 months however recently the lowest F has started periodically not responding. I spoke with the repair shop and they believe this is be a minor issue with the contacts .

Otherwise excellent and holds great tuning .”

Great sounding and rare synth from the 1980’s. Bought about 10 years ago and shipped over from the US (US/UK Power Adapter not included), and has been kept in the same condition ever since and to be honest has hardly been used in my ownership.

RCA Outputs haven’t worked since I got it but the headphone out at the front works absolutely fine.

“No reserve auction for a Realistic MG-1 synthesizer made by Moog. This synthesizer is not in working condition. When turned on, the power light will blink on for just a moment, and then turn off again. Fixing it is beyond my capabilities, and I’m moving my studio. Selling for parts/repair only. Again, this synth DOES NOT WORK, and will need to be repaired or used for parts.

This keyboard looks really nice, and all pieces are intact. Please inspect the photos thoroughly. A few notes: 2 of the slider knobs are missing their silver endcaps, and there is a little rust to the washers around the 1/8″ outputs, which did work just fine until the power issues. I purchased this keyboard in 2010, and the previous owner cleaned the foam off the circuit boards.”

“Good condition . Modded with aftertouch . Controls pitch . Separate aftertouch on /off for lead and poly section . Also sensitivity and bend range adjustable inside keyboard with trims , for each section which makes for very creative bending techniques. Sliders , switches all work , and have been cleaned . The Realistic MG-1 is an analog synthesizer manufactured by Moog Music in 1981 and sold by Radio Shack from 1982-1983 under their “Realistic” brand name.

Sliders, switches all work. Sounds great.

“This is a modified piece. View photos for more detail. I’ve attached labels to describe the mods as best as I know. They are a huge improvement for this synth. Overall condition is good. A couple keys have small chips. The foam that goes around the knobs and switches circuit board has been removed. The mixer section sliders sound a little dirty. It tends to pick up noise in the added knobs if the volume knob is set too low, but the sound is clean if the knob is set higher.”

There is a knob top missing, it is labeled tone sources, the switch still slides and functions just the knob top is missing. See last pic for close up.”

“Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 synth – vintage analog synthesizer in very good condition, see pics. All keys work, all sliders and knobs work. I used it to trigger it from a Eurorack modular, so CV/Gate input works great as well, stays in tune nicely. Big, fat, warm old Moog sound I can’t seem to replicate exactly with my Sub Phatty, but I don’t need 2 bass synths now. I recently opened it up to clean the grimy foam off, and upon putting it back together the far right key went askew; not sure what happened there, but the key plays fine. There is a missing silver decal off of one of the slider caps”

“I had this tested & the salesman said it’s not quite right.

Shout out to Kevin at C. A. House Music St Clairsville OH.

It powered up & played but I recall him saying something about a crossover slide.

I don’t remember all the tech lingo he mentioned but all the keys worked anyway.

The case is near perfect, no damage, missing parts or yellowing to the knobs.

Heck! I didn’t even see a scratch.

It may be something simple cause it’s in such fine shape?

Comes with the inst manual printed in 4/82.

“Foam is removed and overall good condition. There are very small chips in the front of 2 keys. See photos.

This MG-1 has a lot of mods. I can only guess what some of them are because they are not labeled, however, I’ve included photos of the wiring to help you figure it out.

Here’s what I can tell you about the mods:

Rear RCA jacks were changed to 1/4″ and it’s now V-trig for easier sequencing.
The output volume seems louder than stock.
I think the detune slider has been changed to go down a full octave.
The switch on the left drops the keyboard down one octave.
One of the knobs on the left changes the 2nd oscillator’s pitch. I think it detunes.
I think the knobs on the right are FM for Oscillator 2 and PW/PWM for Oscillator 2 square wave.

Has 2 mods done on it that are both filter octaves. This thing sounds rad. There’s a learning curve with these but once you figure them out they are super fun. Very warm bass synth sounds with polyphonic organ sound you can mix in. Sold as-is due to its age. Normal wear and tear.”

Original buyer bought it from a Tandy shop in France. I bought it secondhand but in pristine condition from my friend in 1985, hardly used it during a couple of years then stayed in my parents house for the last 31 years. Fully working, I knob cover missing, and 3 of them got tape.”

“This synth has had a full service – every slider has been cleaned or replaced if needed, one of the MM5823N divider chips was replaced, a 2n3906 transistor was replaced in the first oscillator. Also, the synth received a full recap using high quality Nichicon electrolytic capacitors. I performed a couple standard mods and changed the RCA out to a normal 1/4” jack along with increasing the overall output volume. The nasty ass foam protecting the sliders has been cleaned off and replaced, along with new knobs and slider caps. All keys were removed and polished. This synth looks lovely and will sound beautiful for years to come. Cosmetically speaking, it looks pretty good overall and has a few cracks in the overlay, also a few flecks of what seems to be white paint. Other than that, it’s quite pretty for a synth this age.”

” My father brought this home new from Radio Shack as a gift for me in 1982.

Model number 42-4000, serial number 6761.

It was working reasonably well until I decided to degunk the inside and replace the faders, as one of the tone generator faders was noisy. I bought replacement parts on eBay long ago (i.e. chipforbrains’ 43 piece reproduction slider and caps set, in 2011), then the project was shelved. I would love to get it reassembled and working again, but I’m downsizing and just do not have room for it. The original box and documentation is gone. I made no modifications (i.e. did not try to install MIDI or other changes).”
