Korg PS-3200 with PS-3010 Keybord

“The Korg PS-3200 is an analog polyphonic synthesizer made by the Japanese company Korg in the late 1970s. It features 48-note polyphony, 16 patch memories, and multiple LFOs and envelope generators. Its greatest feature was that each keyboard key had its own oscillator, allowing simultaneous pronunciation of all keys, something that had never been done before.
This function made it possible to produce complex, orchestral-like chords, making it an extremely powerful monster machine for its time. However, in order to achieve these specifications, it required as many circuits as the number of keys on the keyboard, so the main unit weighed more than 33 kg. The 32 knob settings that determine the tones can be memorized completely, and even when the power switch is turned off, they will not be lost semi-permanently. Furthermore, when each knob that can be memorized is pulled, the memory is canceled, and the instrument can be temporarily readjusted. The synthesizer itself has a completely independent SG (VCO group), a 7-element equalizer for final tone adjustment, and a modulation balance that can simultaneously modulate oscillation frequency and tone by mixing periodic changes from the modulation generator and staircase changes from the sample-and-hold. The modulation balance and other features are added.

Working KORG POLY-61 Vintage 1980’s Synthesizer Keyboard

I have had this a long long time, and over the years it has seen more action than Axel Rose.

Over the years I have had hard Red Oak sides put on, as the chipboard that was originally there was just falling to bits as they all do.

I have not used it for over a year, but it is fully functioning. Just needs some switch cleaner in the volume knob as it is a little scratchy when turned. With time and use this should dissipate.

Also, where the modulation/Pitch bend joystick is, the panel does move a bit. It has done this since the sides were replaced but it does not affect playing or using of the joystick. It could use some shorter screws in it I think. Just never bothered with it as it did not detract from its use. Just thought I would mention it as someone may want to fix that. ”

“I’ve been downsizing my synth collection over the last few months because we have a baby on the way. I really hate parting with any of my gear but I’m not starting a fight with the wife over it so here’s a classic! The unit works great. Cosmetically it does have a few flaws but nothing I would call drastic. The top right screw mount for the rack has a slight bend in it (refer to pictures) and there’s a few scratches here and there. This unit isn’t very common anymore and most ship from Japan which isn’t the case here.

This unit was never used to gig out. I bought it brand new back in early 2001. It’s been in my home studio and hasn’t really left other than to bring it over to a friend’s house to show it off. This unit is very powerful, kind of like a MicroKorg on steroids. I hope whoever purchases it gets as much joy out of it as I did over the years. This item was fully disassembled and cleaned inside and out. A defective switch was replaced. A broken key was replaced. All jacks were cleaned. Cracked side plastic was glued. Electrolytic capacitors replaced. All switches and potentiometers cleaned and lubricated. Unit was recalibrated. It’s now working like new again and ready for its next happy home.
