“I’ve been downsizing my synth collection over the last few months because we have a baby on the way. I really hate parting with any of my gear but I’m not starting a fight with the wife over it so here’s a classic! The unit works great. Cosmetically it does have a few flaws but nothing I would call drastic. The top right screw mount for the rack has a slight bend in it (refer to pictures) and there’s a few scratches here and there. This unit isn’t very common anymore and most ship from Japan which isn’t the case here.

This unit was never used to gig out. I bought it brand new back in early 2001. It’s been in my home studio and hasn’t really left other than to bring it over to a friend’s house to show it off. This unit is very powerful, kind of like a MicroKorg on steroids. I hope whoever purchases it gets as much joy out of it as I did over the years. Working KORG POLY-61 Vintage 1980’s Synthesizer Keyboard

I have had this a long long time, and over the years it has seen more action than Axel Rose.

Over the years I have had hard Red Oak sides put on, as the chipboard that was originally there was just falling to bits as they all do.

I have not used it for over a year, but it is fully functioning. Just needs some switch cleaner in the volume knob as it is a little scratchy when turned. With time and use this should dissipate.

Also, where the modulation/Pitch bend joystick is, the panel does move a bit. It has done this since the sides were replaced but it does not affect playing or using of the joystick. It could use some shorter screws in it I think. Just never bothered with it as it did not detract from its use. Just thought I would mention it as someone may want to fix that.

This item was fully disassembled and cleaned inside and out. A defective switch was replaced. A broken key was replaced. All jacks were cleaned. Cracked side plastic was glued. Electrolytic capacitors replaced. All switches and potentiometers cleaned and lubricated. Unit was recalibrated. It’s now working like new again and ready for its next happy home.

KORG POLYSIX (Japan/1980s. One of the first (affordable) programmable polysynths, and very much a true classic instrument. Great sound. EASY to use. Still looks distinctive and cool. 6 VCOs ~ FX ~ 32 memory slots ~ arpeggiator ~ chord memory etc <> TRUE ANALOGUE HISTORY.

This one has had MIDI fitted. Instrument is not in pristine condition, but the keys are good, all switches, buttons and wheels do their job. Veneer on the corners is a bit tatty. It runs at 120Vac, but voltage convertor is supplied for European 220Vac usage.

“Unfortunately, this unit is not outputting any sound, so I am selling it “as is, not returnable, for parts or repair.” I don’t know if the issue with no sound is because I have a bad midi cable going into it, if it needs a new battery (which I believe is a common problem in these older synth modules), or if there’s something else that needs to be repaired. In any case, I’ll be offering it for much less than a fully-working unit, so it may be a great value for someone who can troubleshoot and repair it.

It comes with the EX-8000 unit (with attached rack ears) and the power cord. That’s it. Find the manual and other information online.
