“For sale is a fine example of the classic and rare Korg Mono/Poly Vintage Analogue Synthesizer. If you’re reading this then you probably already know about the mythical powers of the Mono/Poly. Exceptionally powerful 80s analogue synth, capable of very beautiful traditional sounds or completely wild, devastating patches. This thing sounds absolutely dangerous. The warmth, fatness, depth, modulation capabilities, tightness of envelopes and lush screaming filter resonance are unmatched by anything else. It’s just alive – as soon as you switch it on and hear it you know there are spirits living inside it (these spirits can’t be cloned by Behringer! :).Machines like this just have an unpredictability that doesn’t exist in modern gear. That’s what makes them so interesting to our brains/ears. I’ve used 4 different Mono/Poly’s over the years and although all retaining the same voices and capabilities, they have all been slightly different in their character – which is the beauty of them. Composing with this synth is simply joyous – it leads you down a patch of exploration and creativity, particularly because you can’t save or recall patches. It makes you think and learn. It is a very special instrument and is likely to become the centre of your universe if you become its new owner!

This machine was professionally serviced not too long ago – I still have the service notes and invoice, I’ll dig them out and provide them to the buyer. The original flimsy chipboard end cheeks have been replaced with high quality walnut end cheeks and cosmetically the synth is in pristine shape.Working perfectly and sounding incredible. In excellent cosmetic condition for its age. “For sale is my KORG MonoPoly serial number 378518.

Operationally everything works as expected. One or two pots in the filter section (EG and track in particular) had become glitchy and showing symptoms of requiring a good clean. The unit has therefore been recently stripped and rotary controls and key contacts have been cleaned. At the same time tuning has been re-calibrated. This work was undertaken by Electrofix (Bristol).

Cosmetically the keybed and top surface of the synth are in good condition for the synth’s age. The side cheeks have at some time sustained damage on the corners and might benefit from repair or replacement.

At some stage there has been a modification in the form of an additional switch (visible to the left of the Korg logo on the top panel and above the main output volume knob). This purpose of this switch is unclear, the wiring links to the CV in jack – when not engaged the MonoPoly operates perfectly normally.” Click here to visit listing on eBay
