“It was working till a week ago. Then the buttons became somewhat unresponsive. I’ve opened it to replace the battery and when it came on since. It now shows no life with either batteries or psu. Sold for spares/faulty – no turns.

“Korg M1 vintage workstation / synthesizer + case. Needs some attention
I’m selling this on behalf of Leeds music-based mental health charity Cloth Cat and any money will go to them. I’m afraid this means I don’t know much about it as I don’t own it and we don’t know its history. It’s been knocking around for a while.
The summary is that it looks OK but has lost most of its sounds. It occasionally takes a while to come on(when the display shows a row of green rectangles for a while).
When it comes on, the display reads ‘Init Prog’ and plays a piano sound. When in the ‘Global’ menu there’s also a drum kit sound. After a look on the internet I’ve concluded that it’s lost its factory sounds, the most likely reason being that the internal battery has run out at some point.
So…I downloaded the sounds from the Korg website and got a midi / USB cable and some software and tried reloading the sounds following a YouTube video (after fitting a new internal battery following another YouTube video). And it hasn’t worked – like the information wasn’t going in or wasn’t being saved for some reason. There aren’t very many videos showing you what to do and it could be operator error or something missing in the instructions I have – or something wrong with the thing itself. But we need to sell this ‘as is’ with no returns – so you might just know what to do or it might need serious attention.
More negative stuff: The case isn’t in great condition and one of the 2 combination locks on the case has been broken – though I do have the numbers and it holds closed on one side. The knob on the end of pitch wheel seems to be missing and most of the retaining screws both externally and internally have gone – there are justenough to hold everything in place. And we I don’t have any sound or memory cards for this I’m afraid.”

I was gifted this synth as I was desperate for a new keyboard. Sadly it is of no use to me as I actually needed a weighted piano to do some session work with. I have no idea how to use this but I have plugged it in with some headphones and I have played it but that’s as far as my technical expertise goes! 😂 It was definitely working perfectly when my friend had it so I assume that nothing has changed.

Most sellers don’t spot or mention this, but the backlight is dim, as is typical with these at this point in time, though theyre often completely dead. What this means is you’ll either want to use it in a well-lit room or you’ll want to replace it. ” Up for sale, a 1980s Korg PolySix programmable polyphonic vintage synthesizer in perfect working order, augmented with a full KiwiTechnics KiwiSix upgrade kit including upgraded circuit board and power supply.
The KiwiSix upgrade significantly expands overall functionality and mitigates several issues common to the PolySix, including replacing the original KLM-367 circuit board; which are frequently corroded due to the frequent failure of the original nickel-cadmium batteries. The KiwiSix upgrade also provides 512 tone slots, all able to be stored/edited, with 64 preloaded tones. Sequencing capability is increased; 8 separate 124-max step sequences can be edited and stored. Additionally, the KiwiSix enables MIDI functionality, with the ability to independently set the MIDI In & Out channels. The Arpeggiator and Sequencer can both output MIDI, and the Sequencer can be entirely dictated by MIDI input. The internal clock hardware has been overridden and expounded upon; now able to clock the Arpeggiator and/or Sequencer and can optionally generate a MIDI clock. Key Transposition augmentation allows transposition from 1 octave down to 2 octaves up.
Finally, the power supply has been replaced with a proprietary KiwiTechnics design which utilizes modern voltage regulators. Many PolySix units often have extensive damage as a result of years of overvoltage; the KiwiSix Power Supply is KiwiTechnics’ much-needed answer to that issue. Beyond hardware, all future software updates to the system can be downloaded free of charge from KiwiTechnics’ website.
Cosmetically, this unit is extremely unique. It has been painted purple with yellow trim, with a large vintage Batman sticker placed central to the back of the enclosure on top of additional purple-painted tape. The knobs have also been painted purple. There is a fair bit of honest wear across the enclosure, but nothing extending beyond minor nicks and dings.
