“This sale is for a 1980’s Vintage Kawai K1 Digital Synthesizer Keyboard as pictured. This Synth is vintage and used, but was well taken care of. There are no issues that we have found to note, its sounds great and operates as it should. There will be signs of use since it is used and vintage. Flaws will consist of minor marks, scuffs and scratches, but still better than most I’ve seen (pictured). Digital synthesizer rackmount module – good condition, a few scratches but nothing major.

NOTE: internal battery seems to need replacing, as the unit won’t save patches – you can restore patches to it via MIDI SysEx very easily and they will work as long as unit is powered, but will need reloading after a power-off. If you can replace the internal battery, though, or find a memory card for it, then it will be fine.

“The front of the keyboard has received water damage but this did not spread far inside. There is no sound out of the main outputs, but a distorted sound can be heard from the phones output. I suspect the issue is the volume control having water damage and therefore being stuck on 0. This could be an easy fix. The the main board comes from another synth and had an issue where every eighth played note would suffer from digital distortion. There are 2 broken black keys at the top of the keyboard and 1 cigarette burned white key, although the keyboard does not smell of smoke.”

“Really good condition inside and out as can be seen from the pictures, no signs of old age on circuit board, original Sanyo battery has no leaks and caps look good. (Battery may need replacing at some point).

Externally the device has a few minor marks and has two extra holes on the rear panel for wall mounting. Other than that looks good and sounds good.
