“Casio CZ-101 Digital Synthesizer.Hello! We have had this synth in the family for a long time – my father bought this and used it for a short time in their wedding band years ago. It’s been mostly in storage. Although it has seem very limited used, there is one key which seems possibly broken (still works), as well as there are at least a few sticky buttons, and the input jack for the power adapter is finicky as to how you rotate it. I made a quick video in hopes of being transparent about the functionality. I am quite sure that some TLC on an older unit like this is entirely doable for someone who its worth it to. For us, we just don’t use this thing and would rather see it go somewhere better! “Here we have a fairly rare and in good condition Casio VZ-10m, one of the few truly professional pieces of equipment they made. I received it with the faded backlight issue, but I installed a new one and the display is easy to read even in low lighting now. I was very pleased when I didn’t lose any of the display elements, as many people have had that happen when installing a new backlight. This synth can make some amazing sounds, particularly pads, strings, organ, bell and fat synth sounds. Like the VZ-1, it uses a much more advanced form of synthesis than their cheaper models and is similar in some ways to FM. This one probably was originally sold in the Japanese market, as it is a 100V model. The pictured 120V to 100V converter is included in this auction and works great. I do NOT recommend trying to power up the unit without using the 120V to 100V converter – ever! Spare fuses are included with the converter.”

“So, truth be told this was found in the trash. It powered on but a bunch of buttons didn’t work. One of the boards had cracked but I was able to stitch it back together with silicon glue, jumper wires and a prayer. Some of the keys were also cracked and I glued them back together. Missing the slider knobs. Now all buttons and functions work.

“It’s only plays with headphones that I plugged in it-I guess maybe the speakers are blown. Therefore I am selling this for parts or repair. It does not work like it should. I found a power supply from a different Casio that works. That’s the one that comes with it .I can hear a couple small things tinging around when I shake it. It has a lot of scratches on the back but in front only has some wearing on the keys. a lot of the Dust will probably wipe off but I didn’t bother to. This electronic is for parts or repair it does not work!”

“1980’s Vintage Casio CZ-101 Phase Distortion Synthesizer in good condition. I have listed in detail above everything in my limited capability to test. Some features were not tested because I do not have the tools necessary to do so. (see details above) 9v 5.4w AD-5 power cord not available. All testing was done using 6 1.5v D cell batteries (Batteries not included as part of this listing). The battery compartment is without corrosion. No midi cord available, so I could not determine if an actual communication is working in or out. Sound was tested using sound and line out. 49 piano keys are all responsive. All presets are sounding. Buttons are springy. None are sticking. Seems like a great little keyboard from what I can ascertain. Total 80’s soundscape. Reminds me of big hair and bright colors. Please, do not make any assumptions about anything you think I may have missed in my description or photographs. ”

The unit is 100% working but is missing one of the button caps for the envelope section but the button itself still works, just the button cap is gone. These button caps may be replaceable.

I have not tested every feature on this keyboard since I honestly do not know what the features do. Here is what I have tested. I have plugged in the keyboard and it does turn on. I plugged headphones into the headphone jack and when I pressed every key there was sound. I was able to select different sounds from the left side and each time I pressed a key it made a sound.”
