“This third gen Arp Odyssey is in very good physical condition. 2 of the slider caps are missing, but should be easily obtainable. There is some loose material on the right rear side of the synth. All sliders have been thoroughly cleaned and work as they should. All switches and keys work perfectly. The accompanying road case is in very good condition and the foam is still holding up well. There are two modifications: a two position switch in the upper right side of the panel, which is used to change from singe and dual voice mode. Also, there is a rotary knob on the left side, the function of which is not clear to me. For sale is my beloved ARP Odyssey from the 1970s… this is not a korg clone of modern replica, it is the real deal.

The synth is fully functional and in perfect working order.

It has been fully upgraded with a modern slider package as the old ones were absolutely shot after 50 years of use. The sliders have LED centres however an LED driver was never fitted as I thought it would look cheap and tacky.

The cosmetic condition is absolutely unbelievable with not a single mark, scratch or faded patch on the panel, the screen print looks like it was manufactured last year never mind 50 years ago.

The keys are even and play well.

Selling as spares and repairs due to the nature and fragility of these vintage instruments. I would urge any potential buyers to come and take a look at my Liverpool studio where you can put the ARP through its paces for an hour. No returns.”

“This was bought in the 1970s and gently used for several years. It’s been in the closet for over 40 years, in the original manufacturer’s shipping crate, which was converted into a very protective, snugly fitting, foam padded travel case with handle, hasp for a lock, and a hinge added to the lid.

It has NOT been cleaned, polished, or even dusted (I’m not a pro and I don’t want to mar it). This is exactly the way it was stored in the closet after a 40+ year stay.

Having purchased it directly from ARP, I am the original owner.

I plugged it in and hooked it into an amplifier. The red light within the power-switch flickers and I can hear random oscillations, but it does not work as when put away decades ago. It’s never been dropped, damaged, or subjected to moisture damage so it’s likely a minor issue simply in need of servicing.

None of the keys are broken, the instrument is very clean. All but several sliders freely travel full range of motion. All of the switches and dial are intact and functional and only one of the fader’s vinyl caps is missing.

There are no cracks or damage other than some minor scratches here and there.”

“You are bidding on a vintage mark 1 ARP Odyssey synthesizer. This belonged to my dad, who has owned it since he bought it brand new in the spring of 1973. As he loves to note every time we talk about it, this was the first ARP Odyssey to be sold in the Nashville area. He used it while with the various bands he was part of throughout the 1970s before he retired it by the early 80s. Through the many years of disuse that followed its initial retirement, it sat in its travel case in a spare room in our house, its functionality degrading to the point where it needed extensive restoration to work properly. Around 2011, he did just that, replacing pretty much every part of it that became defective over the years – sliders, capacitors, and so on. Afterwards, he used it for a short time with a local classic rock covers band he was part of before replacing it with a much more modern Roland GAIA synth. These days, he no longer needs it, since he’s mostly retired from playing music due to health issues (plus the fact that he’s in need of money at the moment). “The synth is in great condition. The only flaw worth mentioning is some staining on the left leather side panel (see photos). This synth comes with Orange illuminated LED sliders to complement the Orange & Black color scheme of this late model ARP.
