“Originally designed as a guitar synthesizer based on their popular Odyssey synth, ARP’s folly has found its way into many studios as an analog synthesizer expander module. There are kits you can buy that add patch points, turning it into a “poor man’s 2600″. Guitar Hex pick up cable not included and guitar controls are untested. I’ve only used it via external CV/Gate inputs.” 
“ARP Axxe Synthesiser, possibly mid 70’s. Not Working.. Condition is For parts or not working. I’ve been asked to sell this by a very good friend. It belonged to her son who sadly died many years ago and this has been languishing in her garage since then. It was only used at home by him but as it was purchased second hand I’ve no information about its prior life. As can be seen in the photos it comes with an extremely robust flight case so I assume it was originally bought by a gigging musician from the “London Synthesiser Centre”. My friends memory isn’t clear as to when he bought it but she thinks it was in the early 80’s. I borrowed a monitor amp from a friend and plugged it in, unfortunately it was unresponsive to any attempt to get any coherent response from pressing the keys or adjusting the various controls and sliders. It did make a “Synthesiser” noise which made half hearted responses to some of the controls but most definitely needs someone with the the relevant expertise to get it operational again. I suppose that in the worst case scenario it could be used as a parts donor to get other similar types up and running but that would be a shame as cosmetically it’s not in bad condition, the only real problem is the fact that virtually all of the small knobs which fitted on the sliders have decayed and gone missing. In one of the photos you can see the only two remaining intact ones. In one of the photos I’ve shown the sticker giving its model and serial number if anyone knows where to look for its date of manufacture. The flight case is very shabby as can be seen in the photos but it’s actually structurally sound and the interior is still giving excellent protection for the instrument. I think the carcase could be made to look respectable again but the hinges, catches and corner protectors are badly afflicted by surface rust although they all function well and I guess could be restored to almost as new. It comes with its original power lead. I’ve tried to get some info. on line about this instrument and believe that in working order it could well be worth many hundreds of pounds whilst the flight case alone would be worth a fair amount. So, there it is, I hope someone out there fancies this and has the know how to get it up and running”

None work like new. ONE slider top broke after photos were taken. Again can still be adjusted with fingertip. Cosmetic condition is otherwise very good to excellent. Email with Specific questions or send phone number and we will call you…. Includes original ARP Anvil case… As far as we know, no parts have been replaced. All original….. Smudges in photo of front panel are residue of contact cleaner, (no not wd40), which can easily be wiped off. Panel and keys look near perfect. No corrosion on internal key switches.”
“Very good condition as seen (just a few small scratches), has back panel CV/gate controls. CV = 1V/Oct, Gate = +15V. Note: the octave switch had been replaced by a three-position knob, this is actually more robust and easier to use than the original design, for fast range switching while playing live. Has the nicest sounding filter especially at high resonance levels among several whiteface Odyssey’s we’ve encountered, perhaps because it’s been very well calibrated. Hate to see this one go!”

“For yourconsideration is an ARP 2600P (Version 4.0) analog Synthesizer (nokeyboard) for restoration. Judging by the writing on the inside ofthe cabinet near the spring reverb unit are the markings 4P. I haveevery reason to believe that this is the original cabinet which datesthe manufacturing year to be 1974. During this time ARP was using the4012 Low Pass Ladder Filter which was essentially a copy of the Moogdesign. This led to a patent dispute forcing ARP to change their LPFdesign for use in later models. Back in the early 1980’s I designedand built my own analog synths and had an absolute blast using them.Then interests shifted and I moved on to other hobbies. Several yearsago I got the “bug” to get back into analog synths and I acquiredthis 2600 with the intention of restoring it to it’s full beautyafter I retired. During that time I found Synthesizers.com and builta beautiful modular synth I know now I’ll never part with. I’ve beenretired almost 2 ½ years and now that I have my “dream”modular synth I have no motivation to restore the 2600. I would loveto see this instrument go to someone who will bring this classic backto it’s full potential. I never powered up the synthesizer since Ihad it so I don’t know it’s current electrical condition. With thatbeing said the synth should be restored by someone who is experiencedin this type of vintage equipment. The wood cabinet is in good shapebut the tolex covering will need patching or replaced. The frontpanel is also in great shape however please look very closely at thephotos. There are some sliders missing the caps and also some of the stems are broken off flush with the panel. The slider controls willhave to cleaned and possibly replaced. All of the circuit boards,wiring harnesses and the spring reverb assembly are intact. There’sno carrying handle and I have some of the hardware removed to takephotos of the inside of the cabinet which will go back in place. ”

This unit won’t power up – it worked until going into storage several years ago, so I suspect someone who knows about electronics can resurrect it, but that’s beyond my ability. There is some slight gig damage to some of the switches on the front. You can select from brass, strings, organ and piano on the front, but by pushing the buttons together, you can have any two in combination. If you can get it working.”

I used two of these keyboards with my Arp 2600 and no longer desire the double set-up. The case is not torn up, but the latches are missing from the top as indicated in pictures.
