I’ve owned this since the mid 90’s. When not in use it has been stored in the flight case in which it arrived, in my climate controlled studio. It has been in storage for some years. Fires up perfectly and sounds amazing. It will ship in the flight case.

“Selling my beloved ESQ-1 for parts or repair. The main issue with it is the sound is barely audible which appears to be a fault with the filters. My hunch is that the fault is in the power supply or the power to the filter chips, as it’s unlikely that all 8 filter chips would fail simultaneously.
When going to the hidden Filter Calibration page, the display values are all blank (instead of eight 3-digit values ~140 like it’s supposed to display, and the unit needs to be power cycled to exit the page.
Everything else works great- keys (via midi), buttons, faders, and display. There’s a new RAM battery (2x lithium AA in a battery pack with an On/Off switch) wired to the main board.

” The synth was acquired as part of a collection of instruments, I am not a synth player myself but can confirm that it is fully working having had the item repaired. It appears in relatively good cosmetic condition considering its age. There is some discolouration as can be seen in the photos (see the pitch bend / modulation wheels) and one slider cap is missing (Decay).
The synthesizer has just been fully serviced following an issue where no sound was output. The engineer explained that there were a number of ‘cold’ solder joints that needed re-flowing and the moving components were in general need of being cleaned using electrical contact cleaner. “This JUNO went to Sam at Three Wave music for restoration and to add MIDI.
It came back imperfect. The chorus stopped working shortly after pickup (it still passes signal but no chorus). And a few of the sliders can cause the synth to switch between its actual slider values and the loaded preset (as far as I can gather.) It’s a little odd.
I don’t think it would be much to fix, but don’t have the time or extra cash to invest any more in it. I spent nearly $2000 at Three Wave getting it to this point, so I’d like to believe some actual restoration was done.
The MIDI works well and otherwise, I haven’t noticed any issues.
