“prophet 2002 from Sequential.
This was one of the final products Sequential made before they went under. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad!
It is a vintage sampler, that has Sequential’s flavour. So what does that mean? Rich and deep sound, with Prophet filters. Absolutely lovely sampler and something a bit different to the usual AKAI and EMU fare.
It has a, how shall we say, quirky UI which takes some time to grip. However, like anything, once learned it is easy.
This one has been updated with an SD card reader, so no need to mess around with floppy disks. Comes with an SD card with a load of beautiful sound sets already loaded.
Why am I selling? Downsizing, I went a bit nuts with samplers. Because I think something seriously special happened during the 80s with digital/analogue hybrids. A very unique sound that is hard to get without the real hardware. I have owned this fantastic synth for many years and it has been well looked after in my smoke and pet-free home studio before being stored in its flight case.
The Odyssey has CV and Gate ports which means it can be used with a step sequencer, or a MIDI sequencer if you happen to own a MIDI to CV converter (note: I am selling a Kenton Pro 2 separately).
I also comes with a very sturdy flight case, original manual, patch book and printed service manual.
The keys are even and they all play fine, however please note one of the slider caps is missing (see pics). This doesn’t affect playability at all and replacements can be easily sourced online. “WORKING CONDITION: Good – This is in good working condition overall but there is one button, the eighth rhythm preset is non-responsive when pressed. The CY-4″ and III buttons require a bit of extra force to respond. Otherwise, everything is working perfectly. Overall this is being listed in good working condition.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Good – This is in good physical condition. There is some discoloration around the plastic housing where pieces of tape and stickers were covering the housing, and there are scuffs and scratches around the unit as well as a bit of purple paint. Additionally, a few screws on the bottom panel are non-original and in one instance the plastic threading has broken off, meaning a screw cannot be mounted there. Otherwise, this CR-5000 is still in nice solid shape, with all buttons and knobs intact and mechanically sound. Overall this is in good physical condition.
