“Roland D-50 Linear Synthesizer in very good condition, in sturdy flight case
This auction is for a Roland D-50 Linear Arithmetic Synthesizer. I have owned this from new, and always looked after it, so as a result this keyboard is in great condition. Everything works as it should (apart from the minor issue described below), and it does not suffer from the well-known D-50 maximum velocity fault, which can affect these keyboards.
The D-50 caused a sensation when released back in 1987, and before long it’s distinctive sounds were heard all over the pop charts.
This example comes in a sturdy flight case (see photographs), which is slightly wider than the keyboard itself, so allowing the mains cable to also fit inside. The case is foam lined, and has substantial clasps and a good handle, and the whole thing is in great condition, with only a few scuffs.
The synthesizer comes with both the ‘Basic’ and the ‘Advanced’ Owner’s manuals, together with a MIDI Implementation Chart, Laminated Edit Map, and ‘Guidebook for MIDI’, in fact everything that came with it when new. All these are still in the original plastic bag they came in, and are in perfect condition.
Although this keyboard is in good condition, it does have one fault, which I want bidders to know about. Please look at the photograph of the jack sockets on the back, where you will see that the socket marked ‘Pedal Switch’ is in fact missing. I only ever used the ‘Pedal Hold’ (Sustain Pedal) with this keyboard, so when that socket started playing up, I fixed it by pinching that socket. Then of course I never got around to replacing it.
If you are really eagle-eyed, you will notice that the rating plate says “AC 117V” for the power input. This is incorrect, it is a genuine UK keyboard, purchased new from a music shop in Yorkshire. I never knew about this until recently when it was pointed out to me. It has been regularly used from day one on UK mains (AC 230V) with no problems whatsoever.” Click here to visit listing on eBay
