“Another cool product from Roland back when they were still making professional gear for musicians.
It’s a nice cv/gate sequencer that lets you program in slides, dynamically switch between 4 banks of sequences (on the loop point so no abrupt transitions), sync up your CR-78 or TR-808, and more.
This is one of those live/improv pieces that you’ll wonder why you didn’t have one sooner. It’s such an amazing idea but yet there’s nothing on the market today that comes close to this featureset. Nothing stand-alone or in modular land.
Are there limitations? Sure. It’s big; it requires a voltage converter, it ‘only’ stores 600 steps maximum; it’ll likely require a bit of calibration after shipping. Can you live with those limitations? If so, this might be the thing for you.
IMPORTANT NOTE — I have replaced the NiCad battery and cleaned up the small area where it leaked. No circuit damage was found. If you’re buying any old piece of gear that stores patches/info, ask the seller if they have replaced the Nicad and inspected the board for any corrosion/damage from the battery. The CSQ-600 is 40 years old. NiCads leak when they age, especially if they haven’t been used in a while. Why take a chance on a time-bomb that will need repairs down the road just to save a few dollars now?
Also note – this unit has been tested and is working. However, it is 40 years old, so it is being sold as-is. I will gladly provide some spare transistors/ICs that I have around here in case the unit ever does need some work.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
