“Here I am selling my Mk1 Moog Prodigy.
After owning this piece of electronic music history for over 15 years, it’s time for me to let it go.
I’m currently in the process of moving, and this instrument just isn’t getting the use that it deserves.
I’m sure if you’re looking at this listing, you know all about it but my lord does this Moog sound good. The sound is incredibly thick and I’d describe it as velvety smooth and warm. I’ve recorded a video of me playing it that I can send that shows all the keys working, plus some noodling around. The video features a Holy Grail reverb which is not included in the sale – I just love a bit of reverb!
In terms of issues with functionality, the only thing is the master volume potentiometer could do with a clean as it crackles when turned. The crackling immediately stops though once you’re at the desired volume.
Cosmetically, you will see that it is in fair condition, with a few dings here and there as captured in the photos. There is a chip out of the right hand wooden side panel, and the left hand one could do with a scrub down to remove some sticker residue.
You will also notice that the pitch wheel has a screw in it – this is due to the wheel cracking as the plastic is quite brittle being approximately 40 years old. I’m pretty sure there are some wheels from other Moogs that you could replace it with.
