“So, I have been building this system for the last 12 months piece-by-piece as a tool to emulate a variety of vintage systems.
Primarily I see it as an old-school modular, in that it’s for sound design and not for sequencing, however it does include a Moog Mother32 and Moog DFAM so you can be sequencing within what you have in the box.
Excluding the 2 Moog units, the modular system includes 6 Oscillators – 1x Arp 2600 VCO, 2 Moog style VCOs, a Roland 100m and Jupiter 6 JFET, and lastly a broad DCO. Plenty to get you started and of course there’s 3 additional real Moog VCO’s on the Mother32/DFAM (so 9 VCOs in total).
There are 8 VCFs spanning a historical timeline of analog synths. There’s an ARP Tonus 2600 filter, an ARP Odyssey filter, a dedicated Moog multi-band ladder filter, a rough-and-ready Russian Polivox filter, a 12db Oberheim SEM filter, a quirky EMS Wasp filter, a variable band Steiner filter and a Roland SH2 filter… as well as the filters on the Moog Mother3s/DFAM.
Rounding out you have 2 dedicated LFOs with delay, 3x 4 stage envelope generators with additional functions, 2x VCAs, a 4 way mixer, an analog drive circuit for saturation, Pink and White noise, a ring modulator, delay, lo-fi analog echo, reverb, various multis, attenuators and voltage convertors (for the Mother32 Sequencer) and an oscilloscope.
And of course you have the Moog Mother32 and Moog DFAM.
Adding additional Envelope Generators and LFOs to the DFAM basically turns it into a 2 OSC Moog synth… and a nice feature here, I added real knobs on the DFAM so it’s easier to dial in the sequencer parameters.
Wrapped up in the amazing $900 Pittsburgh Modular Structure EP-360 case, and complete with a lovely range of patch cables and cable rack!
And there’s still 16hp available!
All-in-all I have spent over $6200 on this but due to forced unemployment I have to let it go to the next person to enjoy.
If you are looking for a modular system… set-up, ready to go with a nice variety of old-school vintage analog tones… just add your sequencers – then check this one out.” Click here to search for synths on eBay
