“Hi,i have for sale a Yamaha D11 programable synthesizer that i am selling for spares and not currently working.The condition of the synth is fair but it does fire up fine.However there is a missing key and several keys are a little loose,one is also cracked.Currently there is no playing mode and i have changed the CMOS battery to aid its reset factory mode.I have pressed the edit,no 16 and 32 and then yes button but all i have managed to do after a couple of hours trying is to enter an edit mode.I can not currently get out of this mode at present.The illuminated screen has some fading didgits but all the buttons appear to work.The Pitch and Modulation wheels are all fine too.There are age related marks and scuff but i am sure it will come good to the right person.Can you bear in mind this is sold as not working so please take a look at the pictures to see the general condition.” Click here to search for synths on eBay

“This has just been serviced and is fully working, all of the front panel tact switches (yes, all 48 of them) have been replaced with brand new switches (these tend to fail after 20 years or so and require a much harder push to work, or they get to the point where they don’t work at all) Also, all of the key contacts have been cleaned so that the velocity and aftertouch are working as they should, and the backup battery has been replaced too. It also has had a stunning new OLED white on black display fitted which looks glorious compared to the original dim LCD display. The upgraded OLED display cost me £50 plus fitting. The original LCD is included too so that it can be restored back to original condition if desired.” 
“This circa 1986-88 (?) DX11 powers up, but sounds like it needs work. None of the presets produce proper sound; a high-pitched digital squeal is heard in some cases, other cases no output at all. Garbled characters appear on the LED for certain button or preset selections. Repair or harvest for its very valuable parts.
“The Yamaha DX11 – successor to the more famous DX7 but with some crucial differences. Wheras the DX7, DX100 and all the previous synths in the DX family built everything out of Sine waves, the DX11 offered other waves like saw waves to construct much more gritty & interesting sounds.

“Selling a Yamaha DX11 in cosmetically very good condition. All keys, sliders, wheels, and aftertouch work. There is, however, a bugginess where some of the higher patches selected will go into a function or edit mode instead of straight to the patch. The workaround, I have discovered, is to press the “internal” button right after, to actually go to those patches. This occurs when choosing Bank B as well, and is remedied the same way. My guess for the permanent fix is to upgrade the firmware EPROM chip.

“great sounding unit here. the LEFT plastic side cover was cracked or broken sometime in the last 30 some years, and there was foam and tape Put over the missing end cap, to keep things protected and cover any sharp edges.
“It is missing 2 rubber feet underneath. It still stands on 3 when on a table. It never bothered me since it is unnecessary when on a keyboard stand)”
“A close relative of the infamous dx7. Mod wheels are wobbly, but functional. Works great other than that. Used, with some normal wear.

” I bought this as a non working unit. The power supply had some loose solder joints which have all been repaired. Factory settings were dumped into it with sysex MIDI and sound superb! The synth was disassembled and cleaned head to toe! I was planning on keeping it so I did a very thorough cleanup of all the contacts and inspected all boards for corrosion. The buttons were ALL replaced ALL 48 TACT SWITCHES ARE NEW! No hard pressing or anything at all which is VERY nice. New battery installed so that’s good for another 20+ years.”

“Great vintage synth in exceptional condition for its age. Its not mint but for a 30 year old keyboard, it has minimal scratches and cosmetic marks. I don’t think it has seen serious use and it certainly hasn’t been heavily gigged!
