I tested most functions and seems to be in good working order. A few notes on this piece of vintage gear. It is missing the cover for the Start/Stop switch, still fully functional, just no cover. Some of the Tolex is torn on the corners and there are some cosmetic scuffs and marks on the case and front plate.

This is in as-found condition, I gave this a light cleaning, but it probably could use a going over with a more detailed cleaning. Some slight scratchiness on a few of the pots, but nothing catastrophic. I wasn’t able to test all the jacks on the back with the triggers and start/stops. In the video I am using the Low Impedance output to the the test amp (not included). Ready to lay down some phat retro beats. “I’ve had this Roland JX-8P for about 5 years – an incredible vintage synthesizer with some really excellent pad sounds and a great chorus effect. Now it’s time to go. Comes with (and will be shipped in) a hard carrying case lined with bubble wrap.

See pictures for cosmetic details, some minor scratches and bumps here and there with some paint loss on the left side due to rubbing (the old owner gigged with it back in the day) but other than that this synthesizer is in excellent cosmetic condition.

As far as the working condition, things are for the most part great. Turns on, produces sound, programming works, all buttons work, no major problems. However, some things to note:

Sticky key – one of the keys on the left side sticks on occasion, usually fixes itself but is a minor inconvience and I’m not sure where the problem stems from.

“For sale is a rare vintage Roland SH101 analog monophonic synthesizer including the original MG1 Mod-Grip and Roland leather strap for wearing it like a keytar. It’s tested and fully functional. We have not serviced it and it has the typical power button issue when gently touching on the power-on button, the pitch can shift. It’s not an issue when not pressing the power-on button, and we found it to stay in tune and track quite well over the octaves. We can have the power-on button replaced / serviced as needed for additional cost, contact us if interested. The only other thing worth noting is that the battery compartment lid has broken tabs so it doesn’t click in place like it should, but we found it still stays on. A piece of tape could remedy it or you could source an aftermarket or NOS lid replacement for approximately $20 – $40. This is a classic mono synth with fun build in arpeggiator / sequencer and capable of a wide range of sounds for bass, leads and effects. The SH-101 is a personal favorite with a classic Roland synth tone. Also includes original manual (there is some wear to the manual and it appears to possibly be missing some pages).”

This Roland D-20 is in playable, working condition but I have listed is as for parts as it needs some restoration work. The end cheek has a crack (not very obvious, but clearly broken when you poke it). I won’t be replacing that.

Currently, the asking price is based on the synthesizer in fully-working order, with all keys checked for velocity, front panel buttons operational, display screen good and disk drive working, but with a cracked side panel and cosmetic wear as seen in the pictures.
Until then, I am open to lower offers reflecting the repair work I need to undertake detailed below.
When I have finished the repairs I’ll update the description.

At the time of listing three keys aren’t working, but I’m stripping it down to replace the contact strips.
The disk drive isn’t reading disks, it sounds like the belt has failed so I will replace that and test. Assuming it works I will include two DSDD disks for you to record MIDI sequences on (unless this is a .1.44MB HD floppy drive, which seems unlikely, in which case you can have four blank floppies).

Otherwise the synth is working well. I own a JV-50 which is the successor to this model and they have a very different feel and character, this is clearly a synthesizer rather than a sample player which the more basic JV models are closer to. It has a very authentic ’80s feel to it, though it lacks some of the D-50’s deeper patches. If you wanted to take it as-is, it’s entirely usable apart from the three non-working keys, and can be played over MIDI. It’s the perfect companion to an Atari ST reliving the late ’80s/early ’90s MIDI bedroom studio.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

“Highly collectable synth manufactured in the 90s but still sounds fantastic today.

Unfortunately an issue that started with a few dead keys has now spread to the entire keyboard and as a result the keybed will need to be repaired/replaced. There is also some evidence of the dreaded “red glue” issue. This is a very common problem with these synths, however it still works perfectly over MIDI and all the sliders and knobs work as expected. I’ve been using it very effectively as a synth module triggered by a controller keyboard.

Roland TR-808

“Selling my beloved TR-808. Everything works perfectly except the following LEDs do not light up: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15. I don’t have the electronics knowledge to say for sure, but I think because it is every other LED that isn’t working (see the final pic that shows the LEDs lit up), that the LEDs themselves are probably not burnt out, but it is more likely it is a single contact or some kind of buss in the electronics that is connected to every other LED as a group. This is probably a very simple fix for someone with electronics knowledge, but I cannot say for sure.

Three of the orange caps are missing from the Level knobs, and one white cap is missing off the Tone knob for the Cymbal, the start/stop button is missing its label insert, and one screw is missing from the top of the unit, please see pictures for these details. Otherwise this 808 is in great cosmetic condition for its age.

“This is a Roland D-550 synthesizer module in excellent condition. It’s the rack mount version of a D-50, and is an absolutely ICONIC ’80s vintage synth. I recently checked all components, replaced the battery, and restored the synth to factory presets. It works perfectly.

I am also including the original manual (in excellent shape), power cable, and a model M-256D memory card with extra patches (these cards are rare, and can sell for $80-$100 on their own!)

There is a scratch on the LCD screen and another on the power button (see pictures), but they don’t interfere with the readability of the LCD or the function of the unit. The Memory Card has a slightly fussy pin shield mechanism (the little sliding protector that covers the data terminals), which is why I am throwing it in for free instead of selling separately. It works fine, but please consider the Memory Card as-is.

This is a legendary synth in excellent shape, and a great collection to any vintage collection :)”
