“Listing today a Roland D-550 rackmount synth. One of the older D-550’s Serial Number 832896 made in October 1987. Everything works well. it has been in storage (the back shelf for the last 5 years) As expected the screen was dim so I replaced it, loaded from SysEx Librarian the PN-50-00.syx Roland patches. “This unit is in perfect functioning order. It looks great and it sounds amazing.

I have owned it for about 25 years, it has rarely left the studio. Before me it belonged to my former band’s drummer, who bought it new and never figured how to use it.

Pretty much as pristine as these can come. You can see it in the photos. The original manual comes with it. I no longer have the original bag, witch was not too protective in my opinion back then.

In the early 90’s I recorded a lot of tracks with it and got to be really good at programming. Though the real fun (what most hits who used it did) is to play with the 128 random generated patterns that it creates every time you take off the batteries.

Over the last 16 or so years it has mostly stayed on its case, kept safe, dry and without batteries. Every time I thought about selling it I loaded the batteries and spend hours having fun, just to realize what an awesome piece it really is.

“First off: I took this machine in trade for some other gear.

The previous owner told me some of the buttons did not work.

“No big deal,” I thought.

I’ve been a bench repair person for years. How hard could it be? A little contact cleaner, some elbow grease, and everything will be fine!

I started looking on the web and found that was not the case.

I have decided this is a repair that could end in tears, so I am passing this on to someone who feels up to the challenge.

The unit powers up. There is a single brown wire that has come unsoldered from the circuit board (see picture).

Comes with 2 copies of manual, 3 foot pedals, assorted patch cords, adapters and plastic dust cover.

“Bought this a ways back to add to my synth setup. It was listed as being in excellent working order. It was when it arrived, but now has issues. The display started to dim, but still lights up dimly and is blank. All functions and buttons continues to work, I could use it for sound with no display, then the volume started to fade out on it. now sometimes it makes sound and functions, and sometimes it makes no sound at all. I don’t have the extra time and money to get it fixed. Could be a simple repair for someone handy, or a good parts unit to someone. Cosmetically its in EXCELLENT condition. When it worked, it calibrated 100% was gonna be a keeper for life, but life happens. time to pass it on to someone to fix. comes with original manual, sound chart, and warranty papers from from Roland.
