“It powers up.. the keys work intermittently.. it does make sounds.. the sounds loop when playing .. it could be the usual battery leak on the board but this one had a newer disc type battery so I’m not sure.. I’m sad to say good bye to it but this repair is beyond my expertise. “Up for auction is a Korg Poly-61 Vintage Polyphonic Synthesizer in non-functioning operating condition and nice cosmetic condition overall. I intended to restore this and started by replacing the leaking original internal battery. Unfortunately there was some damage done from the battery residue and some of the traces on the board will need to be repaired. I have taken a close up photo of the area near the new battery which shows the damaged traces. The other thing I did was replace all of the keyboard contacts with new LA Synth Co. contact strips. Because I own another Poly-61, I was able to swap out the keyboard to test it on my fully functional version. The keys all function perfectly with no issues.

“This auction is for a KORG POLY-61M key synth vintage analog keyboard with MIDI “FOR PARTS”. I put it for parts because there is no sound coming out of it. The keyboard turns on. Every time you press a key it sounds like a tick. Every time you press a key the diodes on the board(508A) inside light up. I tried to find out what chip,diode,capacitor or resistors were bad but it was an impossible task for me because I don’t have the right equipment to test it. It seem like they spilled something on it. I took out the board(509A) and cleaned it out but to no avail. So I’m selling this AS-IS. From what I have been reading its a pretty simple fix. “Vintage 1982 Korg Poly-61 Synthesizer – Partially Working For Parts/Repair Only. This powers on and the displays (Program no, Parameter, Value) change as they should when you press the buttons. I tested the sound with headphones but did not have an amp to hook up to it for testing. I got sound through the headphones when I pressed some of the keys, but not others. I’m not sure if that’s because of settings that needed changed or if an amp is required, because I know very little about these machines. It may work completely and correctly but I am not sure, so it is being sold as parts or repair ONLY. The joystick is present and straight. There is some slight damage to 2 of the corners as shown in the pics. Photos show the actual item you will receive. This includes ONLY the Poly-61, no additional items. Local pickup welcome. We will combine shipping when possible.” 
“Korg Poly-61 Analog Synthesizer sold AS IS for parts or repair. This is partially working and powers up and has sound output (tested with headphones). Led display lights change as they should when buttons are pressed. The frequency and arpeggio speed knob lights flicker faster and slower when the knob is turned. Cosmetically it is in decent shape except the wood side panels are beat up. The other issues are only about half the keys produce sound. This could be because it needs a good internal cleaning or some other issue. Judging by the amount of exterior cleaning I did there is probably a lot of internal dust. The joystick is slightly bent but still functions as it should. And it is missing one of the rubber feet on the bottom. Due to its age and condition there may be other issues not yet found in my testing. This is a great project to refurbish or to part out. From a smoke free environment. ”

“This is a vintage Korg Poly-61 synthesizer. The Korg Poly-61 exhibits pinholes on a handful of the lower octave keys made by the previous owner. Not sure the intention or purpose of these holes but nonetheless, it is not affecting the playability or overall integrity of the keyboard. Also, each of the corners shows wear that is normal for a keyboard of this age. Overall, the Korg Poly-61 is in very good condition. The Korg Poly-61 is fully functional and operates as intended.” 
” Selling my custom Korg poly-61 in great shape. Manual controls of cutoff, resonance, attack, decay and sustain have been added so you don’t have to menu dive for those common elements. I wired it so each potentiometer has a corresponding on\off switch for turning each parameter on or off. Midi in and thru have been added on channel 6. I proactively changed the battery to ensure there wouldn’t be any leakage or damage to the board. This year I cleaned and rebuilt the key bed. All knobs, buttons and functions work as they should. The synth sounds fantastic! The factory bank has been loaded in preparation for this sale.

” Vintage KORG POLY 61 programmable analog polyphonic synthesizer. This one has had a rough life but its not totally dead yet. Many physical issues including missing & broken keys, missing joystick, broken switch, general wear, dirt, etc. Please check the photos. Just powered it up and its droning away on its own with no keys seeming to work, but I was able to use the PROGRAM and PARAMETER functions. When I’ve tried it in the past sometimes it does nothing, something a few keys work and the arpeggiator works, but it is 100% As-Is. Hate to throw it away so hopefully somebody out there can use it.”
