This Prophet VS is is good condition and sounds wonderful.

Because this is an old vintage synthesizer, I want to note a few things to be as transparent as possible related to its condition:

The internal power supply seems to give some vibration off. You can hear a very slight audible hum, and can feel a slight buzzing on the left side of the keyboard when your hands are on the keys. A replacement power supply would probably be a good idea at some point. But all in all the power works just fine otherwise.

The buttons all work, but sometimes a couple of them seem to press twice when you press once, or you need to press twice to press once. This seems fairly normal for a synth this age. I’d recommend either cleaning or replacing some of them as needed, but they are still very much usable as-is.

The LCD is original and the backlight is still bright.

The aftertouch does not work. I believe this is a common problem and would need to be addressed if you want to use aftertouch.

Firmware is 1.0. There are a few different options for upgrades to firmware. This version:

v1.0 – Has Diagnostic features and free-running LFO’s

All voices work, filter, chorus, voice panning, detune, modulation, splits, doubles, the joystick, buttons, data slider, LCD, volume, balance, storing, s&h, mod wheel, pitch wheel, both L/R audio outputs, and MIDI in and out. I have not tested the cartridge port or foot switch ports.

“Here is my ARP QUADRA Synthesiser built in the 1980’s and used by such bands as Genesis etc.,
It’s in fabulous cosmetic condition both internally and externally – as can see from the photographs and appears to have been very well maintained.
It was until recently owned by a well known Rock musician as a studio instrument but I cannot give you any more information I’m afraid – as my lips are sealed !
All appears to be working with the exception of one key – which is not responsive, I have however, been informed that it is likely to be a carbon build up on the contacts, however I am personally not going to attempt this as I do not have the necessary skill set.
Please contact me in the first instance to arrange a viewing and check for yourself that this is fully functioning and if you’re happy with it then a BACS transfer or cash transaction can be arranged as NO REFUNDS are offered on this synth.

“It is in pretty great shape considering it’s age. I don’t know if it has been serviced lately, but I saw no issues inside of swollen capacitors or anything else and the pressure pad is in beautiful shape. I know that new control pads are available so maybe it is a new one? I don’t know, I magically happened by it at a thrift store and don’t know it’s history {just a side note; I can’t prove it, but I also found a DAT machine there at the same time with a label from “Dub Narcotic Studios” in Olympia WA – same studios Beck and Modest Mouse recorded at – so… yeah, it must be from there and was probably on a lot of famous albums. Just an FYI -pretty cool, huh?}. I cleaned the dust out of it’s guts and wiped it down well and oiled the wood parts too. I did replace the big knob so that is not original and there is a horizontal piece of wood trim under the keys that I replaced. I included a lot of pictures to show it off.
